Learn the power of setting up a crystal grid with intention by local crystal expert practitioner and featured writer, Shonna Chiles-Heintzelman, owner of Cosmic Shakti House. She is a multi-modality healer specializing in crystal knowledge, energy healing & education.

Let’s talk about crystals.

Not in a trendy, surface-level way, but in the deeply rooted, Earth-honoring way that remembers where they come from. I started working with crystals in 2017 and for me, they have been a beacon of remembrance. The remembrance of who I am and what medicine Mother Earth has for me.

Crystals are not just pretty things to collect or wear. They are Earth’s ancient art, formed in volcanic fire, ocean beds, and deep mineral caves. They carry the codes of time. And when we learn to listen, they help us remember how to work with energy in an intentional, reverent way.

What is a Crystal Grid, Really?

Crystal gridding is one of my favorite rituals. It blends the wild geometry of nature with the raw, resonant energy of stones. At its core, it’s a way of creating a vibrational prayer using sacred shapes and Earth elements to hold and amplify your intention.

A crystal grid is a physical arrangement of stones placed in a specific shape or pattern to support a desired energetic outcome. The stones act like tuning forks, holding and radiating energy based on their natural properties and the intention you set.

It’s like setting up a sacred container for your dreams to root, grow, and flow.

The shapes you choose—circles, triangles, spirals—are more than decoration. They’re part of the language of the Universe: sacred geometry. These patterns show up in everything from pinecones to galaxies. They are the blueprint of creation.

Laying a Grid Is a Ritual. Gridding isn’t just placing stones. It’s a practice. A slowing down. A time to drop in with your body, your breath, and your deepest longings.

Setting Up Your Crystal Grid

  • Choose a place in your home that feels grounded and protected.

  • Cleanse the space.

  • Set an intention that feels honest and true to what you need most. Something like:

“I am a clear and perfect channel for Cosmic Creation. May these stones amplify my deepest intention for (insert yours here) in a way that supports my highest good.”
  • Lay each stone with care. You may notice one wants to move itself. Let it. Trust the conversation between you and the Earth.

  • To draw energy in, start from the outside and move inward.

  • To send energy out, begin at the center.

  • Use a wand, or your own hands, to connect the stones linking their energy in an intentional flow.

Grids may look and evolve differently. Find yours through listening to yourself.

Let Your Grid Live (and Know When to Let It Go)

Your grid can stay as long as it feels aligned. Weekly check-ins are helpful—cleanse the stones, thank them for their work, and tune back into your intention.

And when the work feels complete? Deconstruct it with the same care and gratitude. Smudge the space, thank the stones, and release them with a closing prayer:

“Thank you for using your power to work so hard on my behalf. You are now called to rest and close off that power and intention.”

This Is a Living Practice

There’s no “perfect” way to grid. This is your practice. Your ritual. Your conversation with Earth and energy. Let nature show you the shapes and let your intuition lead the way.

Happy New Year & happy gridding!

Personal message from Shonna: I believe in these slow, sacred practices. They are portals. They regulate our nervous systems. They root us in our bodies. And they connect us—to ourselves, to the feminine, and to each other.
